God has been taking me to different places in our region to pray and talk to people. One thing I have noticed is that often where I just pray one week may be where I witness the next week! This was the case in January of 2026.
God sent me to a town north of us to prayer walk one day. I ended up in a coffee shop in that town, and I was observing the people around me, wondering if I was to engage with someone. But that day, I felt like the Lord saying, “next time” when I came there I would. So I just prayed, left and actually then had a good conversation with someone on the street nearby.
A few days later, I came back to that same coffee shop and sensed this time there was someone I was to engaged with.
It isn’t always easy to know how to engage with a stranger in a public place. I respect the fact that people are living their life and have work to do. Yet that day I noticed a couple of different people and quietly prayed for them for a while. Then I asked the Holy Spirit and sensed I was to engage with one of them, a twenty-something age man.
I noticed the picture on the wall above where he sat, as well as the book he was reading. I noticed him take a break from his book and it seemed a good time. I wondered over and casually commented on his book. He smiled and was eager to share about it.
I can’t actually recall how our conversation progressed after that, but it was very natural. I think we started talking about overseas travel and one point, and he was intrigued by my world travels, himself a very adventurous person. He had moved out here a few years back from a different region of the United States.
Eventually I asked if I could sit in the table a few feet away and chat more and he was very open to that. We talked for a while and at one point, he asked more about what I did. I shared about the non-profit ministry and he was very affirming. He shared about his endeavors doing seasonal work in the region. At one point, I shared a few words got put on my heart for him and he affirmed they fit. When I asked him about his own spiritual beliefs, he mentioned not really having anything fixed, but that he read a couple of books of the Bible not too long ago. I discussed his reading with him.
Eventually, I found myself sharing the gospel with him, drawing out and sharing a rendition of the “3 Circles” Gospel presentation. He seemed intrigued and I don’t think he had ever heard the gospel before. That led to some more questions and some opportunities for me to share more with him.
We talked for quite a while, over an hour I think. Eventually I told him I should get going. Even though the conversation was good, I didn’t want to take his whole day. I offered to read Scripture with him again if he wanted and we exchanged contact information. He seems to really be thinking about what was shared. I hope to hear from him again someday!
