I was heading to the library one morning as I needed to print some things out. I noticed an older man sitting on a bench outside the library and struck up a conversation with him. He was friendly and easy to talk to. We talked about the weather and how we both preferred snow to the rainy weather in the winter time. Then after a bit, I had the sense to ask him if he had any pain in his body as I sensed he was physically hurting.

He right away shared how his whole body was achy, especially noting his legs and back. I offered to pray for him and he gladly accepted. As I his hand while I prayed. I felt the Holy Spirit move me towards a bold prayer, speaking with authority that the pain would leave and He would be healed in Jesus’ name. I prayed other things to, about his relationships, finances, etc. that I can’t all remember as they just came to me in the moment.
After I finished, He was like a different person. He got up and smiled. I asked how he felt and he shared he felt good! He praised God and shared how he was born again. It was almost like the prayer woke him back up to all God had done in his life. Don’t we all need that sometimes? He clearly felt loved by God!
He went over to a vehicle nearby, that was apparently his ride and told them a bit of what happened. Then he asked for my phone number, sharing how he’d love to show me around the city sometime since I was new to town. I scribbled it down on some paper and gave it to him.
As I went into the library, I had a very warm heart. Encounters like this make all the times of rejection worth it. This man felt the presence of God, Christ’s healing touch, and love. And he was changed.
As I was printing off my documents, a random lady came up to me. She shared how she had observed me out the window with that man and how it was touching to her. I shared how I used to be a missionary in Korea and now I was a missionary in Kalispell! Praise the Lord!
I’ve since heard from this man and we will be having coffee soon! Praise Jesus!
