Paige and I went out for some intentional time of outreach one August morning. I asked Paige where He felt like we should go and He said, “Lake Tye.” I had one other place in my mind but as I asked the Lord I felt like Lake Tye came first. So off we went.
After coming to Lake Tye, we spent about 10 minutes prayer walking. We each went in opposite directions and prayed in tongues. Then we came back together and began walking around the lake.
While praying, I had noticed an Indian man that had a shirt on that said something about Hinduism on it. But I didn’t see him around anymore.
Yet not far around the lake was an older woman sitting on a bench. We began talking to her and through the conversation I concluded that she was the mother of the man I had seen earlier! Interesting.
“B” as I will call her mentioned pretty early on that she had problems with her right eye with blurred vision. I had the thought of offering to pray for her, but decided to wait for the timing to be right. “B” shared a lot about her life coming to North America from India many years before and all the ups and downs. We listened to her for a long time.

At one point (I think it was after she brought up her eye again), I felt like the Holy Spirit put on my heart a testimony from 10 years before when I saw a woman in South Korea healed of poor vision after I spoke out a word of knowledge. I shared this story with “B” and then said to her something along the lines of, “May your eye also be healed now in Jesus’ name. May you see clearly.”
“B” asked if I had some kind of power and I told her that I was a follower of Jesus. She shared about her life of prayer and how she had talked to different people from different faith backgrounds.
As “B” continued to share her life with us, I felt the Lord put on my heart a sobering vision of her facing eternity apart from Jesus. She was asking, “Why didn’t someone tell me?” Why didn’t that guy in the park tell me?” I knew I needed to share the gospel with her.
I was wearing my 3 circles shirt that day, and as “B” shared about the problems in this world, I took the opportunity to share with her the gospel using the photos on my shirt. I mentioned clearly that we need to be right with God when we die or we will be separated from him and that Jesus was The Way!
It was hard to know how hard to push, but I was as bold and respectful as I could be without being obnoxious. “B” seemed intrigued by the conversation and seemed to be reflecting some on past conversations with Christians.
We talked a bit more and all decided we needed to be moving on with our days. I asked “B” to check out her eye before she left and she agreed to do so. She blinked several times and said, “Maybe the medicine is kicking in. Or maybe it was your blessing.” We all smiled! Clearly she had noticeable improvement in her vision and she wasn’t sure what had happened or what to do with us. We praised God!
As we left, we gave her a Pocket Testament booklet that I had with me. In it is a clear presentation of the gospel and prayer to begin following Jesus, as well as a Gospel of John. She took it and was looking at it as we left. May the Lord fully open the spiritual eyes of “B” and her family so they may see Jesus clearly and follow Him!
